M.&S. Sabashnikov’s Publishing House M.&S. Sabashnikov’s Publishing House The House was established in Moscow in 1891 by the brothers Mikhail Vasilievitch (1871 – 1943) and Serguey Vasilievitch (1873 – 1909) Sabashnikovs.

During the first years in the business the publishers, having started with publication of the P.F. Mayevsky’s book "The Cereals of Middle Russia", primarily focused on publication of works of natural science topics, devoted to researches of the Russian nature and popularization of the Darwinism ("Lives of Plants" by K.A. Timiriazev, "The Lectures on the Evolutional Theory" by A. Weismann, and of other). Later on they switched to publication of historic literature series. The main one was "The Monuments of the World Literature", which contained the best literature works and monuments of folk arts in translations of I. Bunin, K. Balmont, A. Korsh and of other ("The Kalevala", "The Persian Lyrics", "The Song of Hiawatha" and other). They also published such series as "The Countries, Ages and Peoples" (books for reading at home and in travels), "The History". In 1915 the House commenced publication of collections of "The Russian Propylaea".

book The Sabashnikovs’ publications were distinct in their austerity of design and in quality of paper and typographic work.

The Publishing House existed until 1930.
