Frequently Asked Questions
What books does the Electronic Union Catalogue of XIX Russian Book cover?
The catalogue covers Russian language books published in Russia and abroad from 1826 – 1917 and which are stored in the six major Russian libraries: The Russian State Library, The National Library of Russia, The Library of the Russian Academy of Sciences, The Moscow State University Library, The St. Petersburg State University Library, and The State Historical Public Library of Russia.
This includes fiction, scientific, official, reference publications, as well as textbooks and albums. We would like to underline that this catalogue covers not only books received by libraries via legal deposit, but also books that were specially acquired or donated.
Will there be other versions of the catalogue?
Yes. Currently you are able to acquire access to Version 1.0 of the catalogue. Nevertheless bibliographers continue to conduct research, i.e. verify book descriptions, and add bibliographic records on newly acquired or lost books published in XIX century. In addition, other libraries are planning to add their unique records to the catalogue. At the same time Electronic Archives specialists continue to improve electronic catalogue functions.
